Georgia Tech’s Gil Weinberg has a factor or two to say about interacting with robots. A musician and roboticist, Weinberg has created among the coolest robots I’ve seen together with Shimon, a robotic that may play the marimba alongside human musicians. Weinberg realized early on that musicians want visible cues from their bandmates and so Shimon bops alongside to the beat and may completely its own in a jazz combo.
On this episode of Technotopia we speak to Weinberg about robotics, human interfaces, and, for the briefest of moments, the potential of intercourse robots that may play Isaac Hayes. It’s a enjoyable dialog with a cool researcher.
